We are a society of unusual adults; we travel and visit unusual places, we make friends around the world, we enjoy sharing our experiences and we don't fit into traditional roles society imposes on us.
SOUA's ideology is straight forward: We are a society of like-minded individuals from all over the world who enjoy travelling, experiencing the weird and the unusual, sharing stories from our journeys, and helping each other make the most of our travels. We have members from all walks of life, of all genders, atheists as well as theist, young and old. We do have few basic tenets that the society was based on.
SOUA respects societal values and cultures of all countries and regions. We travel to observe and experience, not to offend and interfere. We strive to find lasting friendships and build bridges between cultures.
We have nothing against children, they bring joy to many people and keep the human race moving forward. However our members don't have any. We are fully devoted to our professional lives and chasing unusual experiences.
Before joining prospective members must have visited at least 5 countries other than their own. We want to filter out the casual traveller from the true devotee, but still keep the bar low enough to give everyone a chance.
Some people find travelling uncomfortable, some get panic attacks when exposed to strange and new situations. Not us. We seek out the strange and the unusual. We love to take the less explored paths, see new things and form new experiences.
After each journey comes a period of reflection. Your experiences matter and we like to hear about them. We encourage members to share stories, grow travel ideas and assist each other while travelling the world.
Have you ever felt like there is more to life? Have you ever felt alone while travelling? Do you like meeting new people and forming long lasting friendships? Do you enjoy sharing stories and lores? We do. We have formed SOUA to enhance the travelling experience and to create everlasting friendships. Our members come from diverse backgrounds, yet we all share the same desires and goals. We strive to help each other to experience more and we seek out the unusual to add spice to an often dull journey called life.
Whether you are a seasoned traveller doing tens of thousands of miles a year or a casual explorer going on couple of trips, SOUA has something for you. We offer you a network of people you can reach out to when on the road. We encourage members to do group travels as well as to give each other "the royal" treatment when others visit their home countries. We organize yearly meet-ups in unusual places where the year past is summarized in a grand story telling experience.
We do enjoy receiving snail mail, thus when travelling please do send us postcards. We have a wall in our office covered in the mementos of your expeditions into far away lands.
